12 Songs for Every Event Planner’s Playlist

As musical theatre folk, we know that music can be a powerful tool to change your mood. Music can be especially helpful in high-stress jobs or situations such as event planning, and sometimes all you need is the right song to instantly improve any situation or scenario.

We’ve rounded up a list of 12 motivational songs that you can hit the play button on when planning your event, during your event, or after your event. Keep reading for our suggestions.

Planning your event

“Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations

Sometimes we all just need a little encouragement, right? Planning events can be hard and The Foundations will be quick to build you up when you need that extra push to keep going.

“Counting Stars” by OneRepublic

A chill song with an intense build-up – sounds a lot like event planning to us. Put this song on if you need a relaxing vibe, but also as a reminder to count your (lucky!) stars.

“Nocturnes, Op 9: No. 2 in E-Flat Major” by Frederic Chopin

A little classical music to aid concentration never hurt anyone. Pop on some Chopin or Mozart to help you find your perfect concentration when planning your next event.

Before your event begins

“Thunder” by Imagine Dragons

Pump up your audience with a little thunder by Imagine Dragons. This is a banger that is bound to get your crowd excited for what’s to come.

“Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles

Here comes… your event! The Beatles are classic and you can’t go wrong with playing a hit or two from them. Playing “Here Comes the Sun” will aid your guests in anticipating what’s coming: positive and fun vibes.

“Sure Don’t Miss You” by The Dip

Here’s another one to get your guests ready for your event. “Sure Don’t Miss You” is sure to put everyone in a good mood with its uplifting tune.

During your event

“ME!” by Taylor Swift

You’ll want to make sure you’re playing Taylor Swift’s song of the summer. “ME!” is all about, well, Taylor and encourages self-love and good vibes. This is the perfect song to kick off your event and get your guests in a happy “me” mood.

“Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars

A classic song for any event playlist. This upbeat one will have your guests movin’ and groovin’. Don’t believe us? Just watch!

“Dancing Queen” by ABBA

Is any event really complete without a little ABBA? To be honest, any ABBA song at any time during your event is bound to be a crowd pleaser but we particularly like “Dancing Queen” to get guests up, mingling, and dancing.

When your event is over

“Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man

Your event may be over but you’re feeling it still… we get it. Press play on “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man and live out those vibes for just a little while longer.

“Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld

Big congratulations to you for putting on an amazing event! Now it’s over and time to let go. Only Hailee Steinfeld can help you with this one.

“I Don’t Care” by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber

Last but certainly not least, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s hit of the summer will soothe your post-event sorrows with a friendly reminder that as long as you’re surrounded by the ones you love, that’s all that matters.
